Papayaing. I have no idea how to fantasy F1. But I have fantasy footballed for a couple of decades so I am used to losing, and would be happy to round out the bottom of an Ars fantasy F1 thing.
I'm gonna let the Magic 8 Ball O' Chaos pick my Fantasy F1 Team.
I'm doomed.
If Aston Martin could use some of the tech they're most famous for (machine guns, oil slicks, caltrops, etc) then the race would be a lot more interesting, and I'd give them a serious shot at the Constructors.
I’ve always kind of liked the battery.
So is there anything behind this or is it just anecdotes?
I wonder how much money F1 brings into Monaco, and whether that would be enough to fund some changes to the road layouts.
I'd also love to see a WipeOut style underwater tunnel for part of the race, perhaps bypassing the swimming pool/marina... you can do anything with enough money of course.
This is so Hunger Games.
I really can't see what possible difference that will make.
If you need to mandate 2 pitstops to make a track work as a race then the problem is the track. Yes, its all very historic and yada yada but F1 simply doesnt work at Monaco anymore. Whats more, this is the track with the worst pit lane in the entire year and now they'll be having to use it more than they should, I wouldnt be surprised if it led to an accident.
It does get discussed here. While I wouldn't want to speak for anyone else, wouldn't bother me a bit.
Also, I think Red Bull is missing a livery opportunity here:

High chance of rain on Sunday.
Ferrari 2025. Click for 4x the size. I did two versions - one based on the launch livery they showed us where it looks dark maroon, and one where it’s closer to what we see on track.

Versus the ‘On Track’ version we see, which is MUCH more traditional Rosso Corsa.

Here’s Lewis in the SF25 at Albert Park:

Much more red.
I personally REALLY prefer the on track version.
You know what I'd like to see? A 'vintage' F1 race with all the old ads around the track. Stuff from Agip and Magneto Marelli (not sure I got that right lol) and Dunlop etc... None of that Rolex crap or the Aramco sportwashing BS. Even better if they broadcast with a vintage 70s filter too![]()
Lawson is a hot-headed, over-confident, still-a-teenager. Don't get me wrong, these ingredients can absolutely be assets in the world of F1 where the budgets are big and the personalities bigger, but I'm yet to see him do anything in an F1 car that justifies him keeping his seat. Will he lost it before Suzuka? Unlikely, that seems like a whole bunch of media hype. But whether it's just a maturity thing, or a simply raw-talent issue, he's not ready for F1. It's all exacerbated by a Red Bull car that seems to have a random number generator determining how it's going to perform on any given weekend, but I don't think his failings are a result of the vehicle.
Japan is next weekend, not this one. He’s got a bit over a week (assuming it’s true).
Did he have a choice?
That seems very likely as an explanation to me.
The overhead shots didn’t show the DRS open, I don’t think. He didn’t touch the grass. Anthony Davidson on the Sky feed was implying that he may have lost downforce bottoming out on the ‘fresh bump’ in turn 1 they were talking about in FP1. So, almost a complete loss of downforce from the ground effect leading to a massive loss of grip coming to the apex of a corner where, I think, they said he was going at least 160mph and effectively flat out with the throttle after braking up to the corner.
Edit: watching the slowdown, you don’t see DRS close until AFTER he lifted off at the start of the spin. I stand corrected.
So Alpine confirmed that the reason for Jack's crash was him failing to close his DRS in time. Was hoping to hear it was some sort of malfunction, but he misjudged and crashed that car on his own. That was a close call for that young man.
