Come on, thats bull. Max never had any issue with Red Bull trying to get Lando into the RBR multiple times and if there's anyone that could get close to him on speed it would be Lando, Max doesnt feel threathened by any driver and if a driver beats him he makes no issue of it, he's never made any negative comment about Checo when he won GP's and beat Max except to say he himself should do better.
I'm not saying that Max has a problem with it, I'm saying that Red Bull has seen what happened at Mercedes and do not want that at their team. Max might not have a problem now but two equally matched drivers in the same team tend to lead to complications that might end up costing the team. See Senna vs. Prost or Hamilton vs. Rosberg or even Norris vs. Piastri this year. (or even Gasly vs. Ocon at Alpine)

Red Bull passed on Carlos Sainz specifically for that reason (and also because Carlos Sainz sr. and Jos Verstappen hate each other's guts) and the most effective Mercedes pairing was the pairing of Lewis and Valterii where the hierarchy was clearly established.

Red Bull do not want someone who can challenge Max, they want someone who is an effective second driver. That's why they went for Ricciardo or Lawson over e.g. Sainz.

I'm not even sure that Red Bull would try to hire Lando again after this year because of how much he improved as a driver

The bigger problem is the car is both twitchy and optimized for Max's driving style (and sense of danger). Liam is going to have all the same problems with the car that Checo did, he'll voice all the same concerns, they will be ignored just like Checo's were, and he will languish in the midfield like Checo did.

That's my prediction, anyway.

Honestly, from my perspective it doesn't really matter who gets that second seat, they aren't going to score the points that Checo didn't. Not with the top teams so evenly matched.

Max isn't the problem with these kinds of things though, the team and the people around Max are. I don't know, I wish Liam luck, I really do, but all the other things aside, I still think Yuki should have gotten the seat, but I get it. Now, what I am hoping for with this move is we see more of what we saw between Liam and Checo. The guy doesn't back down, he doesn't seem to be intimidated in the least, well until he has to go see Christian of course 😂. If he can wrestle that car with anything close the efficiency that Max does, and they are both able to line up on the same row, or within a row of each other, things could get dramatic going into those early turns.

And yeah, that was really awesome what Ferrari did for Carlos. They have built themsevles a pretty solid team over there in the red paddock area.

The Washington Post (gift link) highlights an important facet of the sport we're missing out on. I'll be racing out to purchase "Throttled" and "Crossing the Line" as soon as I possibly can literally never.

Romance novels, she added, are a logical extension of this. Weaver’s book — which she describes as an “ill-advised romance between a driver and a team principal’s daughter” — had been in the works for some time, “bouncing around my hard drive for a while,” she said, but it took the sport’s ascent to finally help it see the light of day.

Alright, so I read through the synopsis of the main titles in the article, then read through chapter one of ‘Fast & Reckless’. It seem’s tropy as hell, but at least the first chapter is decently written.

Romance novels are a strange bird - they’re held to a different standard (prose, themes, characters, plot, etc) than other genres. Some can be very entertaining. Not sure if this is one. Sone of the others mentioned in the article were hard ‘nope!’ from the get go.

I read a LOT. I may report back if I suddenly feel the need to have sudden onset of the vapors for Formula One ;) :p.

Did we all miss the memo - VCARB! It was always VCARB - well OK not officially and not according to most of the media. At least until the collective media got a hand slap - which should have been a face slap for how quickly they all forgot the message.

So OBVIOUSLY the new name is going to follow in the Toro Rosso/ Alpha Tauri / VCARB tradition embracing the latest sponsorship. So who is going to be the next sponsor? Alcohol and tobacco - long gone; clothing - been there done that; old and new banking - had the spotlight this year.

It's time for dodgy crypto to take a starring role. Coming for 2025 - embrace the meme coins, cash in and cash out throughout the season. The investors/gamblers/rubes will know they missed the dump when the team changes name and livery. On track racing may suffer when the strategists spend more time evaluating/launching the latest coins than planning races. That's just the price they will have to pay operating at the cutting edge of investment marketing.

Maybe I should have included a <sarcasm> mark there. My guesses are usually far out for lunch on a desert island with no coconuts remaining.

The current crypto support is mostly exchanges, likely because of service charge funds and are mostly legitimate:
F1 - Crypto dot com - extended to 2030.

McLaren - OKX
Ferrari - legal issues with Velas - nothing now.
Red Bull - Bybit (although maybe not proudly anymore as the logo is not include on the current sponsers image on the website - or is different for countries where they don't operate).
Mercedes - bitten by collapse of FTX.
Aston Martin - first to the party, partner "stolen" by F1. Possibly with some money exchanged.
Alpine - Binance and ApeCoin - maybe they are the ones leading the way.
Haas - None listed, although the do have UChicago Medicine as an odd one out.
Minardi - missed the boat or hides them.
Williams - Kraken.
Sauber - Stake.

So only 6/10 of the grid (assuming Red Bull and it's junior team are included). New team name "RB Jr".

And Toro Rosso wasn’t named after new sponsorship. It was literally the name of the new owners, except in Italian.
Unless you count “Ferrari” as being named after the team’s sponsor. Or McLaren. Or Mercedes. Then all bets are off.

Now, AlphaTauri and then Visa CashApp RB? Yeah, that’s all sponsorship nonsense.

** Special consideration for Alpine/Renault. Because that whole situation has always been a bit odd.

Edit:
And if you insist on calling RB Minardi, then I suggest you call Alpine either Renault or Lotus. Red Bull is Jaguar. Mercedes is Brawn is Honda.

You know what, this entire thing is stupid. Call’em whatever.
