I'm a fucking combat veteran, so not even close. I'm not the one who has rolled over and showed my belly, Congress is. I'm just saying there is no enforcement mechanism anymore for the courts even if they find in favor of plaintiffs because the DOJ has been neutered. Is your first inclination always to roll over and go belly up?
And there's the rub, innit?Hey man, I was just born here 40 years ago. I voted for Harris. If you have ideas on how I can protest in the biggest police state in the world, in a way that will cause anything to change, while also not losing my home, job, health insurance, family...I'm all ears!

“Man, they got stuff that can blow out our backs. You have disgruntled veterans and fired top military officers. You have a power that's concentrated in Washington DC. You have an almost unlimited amount of weapons and ammos.
If South Koreans, Turks, Greeks, Georgians and Serbians can take to the streets by the hundreds of thousands, surely you can too.
So don't tell us you can't get a couple millions of citizens to wipe out this entire administration if need be.
The way of the bodhisattva is worth following1) buy local
2) don’t buy swastikars
3) be really sweet and lead with love with everything you do
I’m probably forgetting some other forms of non violent and even passive protest. Any and/or all of these are effective means and have real benefit.
As I said above, it really depends on what the marshals do. We havent had that tested yet, we’ll get our answer one way or the other eventually, let’s hope the answer is “follow the constitution, their oaths, and the court’s orders”I'm a fucking combat veteran, so not even close. I'm self medicating with a double strength cocktail today. It’s hard to go a day without hearing some action from this president and his cults members that doesn’t make your blood boil.
One instance…..and even that’s arguable.Right after world war 2. You know, when there was actually a middle class.
You guys might want to think about marching and striking soon.
Other members of his admin are counting on the pardons he promised. Why do you think he pardoned all those Jan6 criminals? He can only really use that to prevent criminal investigations on his own personal actions if they can be considered to be under the umbrella of being an "official act."
Other members of his admin aren't protected.
Answering that question honestly is probably bannable and likely to get you into trouble far beyond a ban.Other members of his admin are counting on the pardons he promised. Why do you think he pardoned all those Jan6 criminals?
The supreme court may have ended democracy in the US by creating a president who is above the law and can also pardon any criminal working for him. How exactly do you stop criminal activity in the administration if you've defined their innocence as being up to a single, powerful, legally immune person?
I mean, the theoretical answer is either impeachment and removal or the cabinet invoking the 25th, but given congress has decided its entire job is to deepthroat Trump’s boots* and the cabinet is, as a result, full of sycophants, the only real answer at the moment is “let’s hope Trump finally eats one too many cheeseburgers and keels over from a massive cardiac arrest”.Other members of his admin are counting on the pardons he promised. The problem with that tactic is that JD Vance becomes president.I mean, the theoretical answer is either impeachment and removal or the cabinet invoking the 25th, but given congress has decided its entire job is to deepthroat Trump’s boots* and the cabinet is, as a result, full of sycophants, the only real answer at the moment is “let’s hope Trump finally eats one too many cheeseburgers and keels over from a massive cardiac arrest”.
McDonald’s, please up the fat content of your burgers, the country is counting on you
*If the democrats somehow massively overperform in 2026 and get 2/3s in both houses they can impeach and remove Trump
You really are an asshole, you know that? What was I supposed to do? Force other people to vote how I wanted? March to the polls with a gun and scare off anyone voting for Trump? Kidnap a politician? Assassinate Trump? What, exactly, could and should I, as an average person, have done to change the outcome of that election? And if you insist that the rape victim analogy. You have to stretch it to absolute absurdity to make it even remotely comparable:
Note, I strongly recommend anyone with trauma or triggers related even tangentially to rape stop reading now.
A woman is at a party, with a bunch of male and female friends she trusts. She is completely sober, she is talking to a man she knows has raped someone before, and the man says, just so you know, I want to rape you, and plan on doing so at midnight. The woman then says "please don't rape me". She also gets some of her friends to politely ask the rapist not to rape her. At midnight she is raped in front of all her friends.
Is the woman to blame? Absolutely not! Should the woman and her friends have done more to prevent the rape? Fucking yes!
Right now, we are at the point where the rapist is actively raping the woman, (immigrants being held, tortured, and deported without due process), he has stated he plans on raping other people (attaching the rights of LGBT people) and you suspect that he might start murdering people (think either large scale war, gas chambers, or both). Right now, the friend group is still asking nicely for the rapist to stop.
And right now, you are one of the friends, watching the rape happen right in front of you, arguing about who is responsible. And I'm a friend in another city, texting you asking you to PLEASE FUCKING DO SOMETHING FOR MY FRIEND!
In the immortal words of John Maynard Keynes, "In the long run we are all dead."But this shall pass at one point, so keep your heads up.
The problem is that you're seeking a democratic solution to a problem that's outside of our Democracy. It's okay to accede to bullies, I guess. Or you could engage with your Congressional reps and let them know how you, as a veteran feel about their inaction. I'll just have to take your word for what a fighter you are despite your Paxton-esque "Game Over" whimpering.

I don’t consider choosing to abandon democratic principles a path to sustaining those principles. The problem is that you're seeking a democratic solution to a problem that's outside of our Democracy.
No, he just can't be prosecuted for it.Can't trump literally point to TRUMP v. UNITED STATES and the John Roberts Supreme Court decision that gives him unfettered power to do whatever he wants during his administration without fear of the pesky law getting in the way?
He could just change what he is doing over and over again or delete info they request and move it. Technically he can't be thrown in jail for doing anything supposedly part of the job of president so that means even if they push him to stop he could just shift it to doge 2 say it is different then start it all over again. The only way to stop him would be impeachment. Can't trump literally point to TRUMP v. Easy, hoss. Just validating armchair warrior status. You're good to go.what a goddamn thoughtless post.
We do not know what that poster has done re: contacting reps. God knows I'm pretty sure Ted Cruz and Cornyn promptly delete my emails without bothering to open them.
Seriously, what the fuck do you think we ought to be doing? Shit that'll get us shot or arrested ? And if someone here was risking that would it be smart to post it here on a public forum?
There have been lots of marches. Search for anti-trump rally and you'll get plenty of hits. Reporting on them has been shamefully thin, especially compared to the 60s / 70s. The major media outlets often act like caved-in wimps, bent on preserving "access". That's not a new thing. The anti-Iraq war protests were big. The BLM protests were massive. Media coverage was ... underwhelming. That said, we're not even seeing marches like in the the 60s and 70s. That is pretty pathetic.
They'd have to impeach and remove Vance & Trump at the same time. The problem with that tactic is that JD Vance becomes president.

I do agree the size is smaller. For now. I suspect that's partly because of who is afraid of police violence. In the 60s/70s, cop violence was usually targeted at PoC and visibly obvious counter-culture types. Now? Totally different story. A lot more people would feel threatened by cops at a protest - even your average white liberal mom'n'pop. That's going to keep people home ... until their desperation starts outweighing their fear.
