I was thinking Vampire Ring. But yeah, snagging a Fromsoft exclusive is pretty strong.

Of course, we get no price for the hardware.
I'm assuming it'll be a timed exclusive, or still end up on PC but 'exclusive' to the Switch 2 amongst the consoles. In any case, I was very surprised to see it.

I really would have preferred more details on pricing, particularly for the console and the Switch 2 upgrades for games, but overall I give the whole presentation two thumbs up. My wallet is ready.

Per The Verge it’s $450, or $500 with Mario Kart. That’s $50 more than I expected and by far Nintendo’s most expensive system ever. 5 years of worldwide inflation combined with node shrinks no longer making transistors cheaper are adding up. If even Nintendo is going that high, and given the PS5 Pro was $700 (which was both stupidly expensive and also probably legitimate), what are the neXtBox and PS6 gonna go for? I do t see a way they’re not $600 minimum, and higher wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Posted in the front page prediction thread, but that's about what I expected, $400-500 ballpark. With Switch OLED at $350 being the minimum, $100 above that seemed pretty realistic...particularly with the state of currency fluctuation and unpredictable US craziness, and other consoles getting pricey already.

Pretty happy that the 120Hz rumor was true, hopefully that means the VRR part was accurate as well (VRR wasn't mentioned anywhere in the Direct iirc).

And finally, F-Zero GX!

Did anyone else miss the few seconds for Silksong in 2025 at 49:49? We'll see if it happens this time, but that's one hell of a thing to zip through.

The watch-a-long I was watching (Grand Poo Bear) was very much along the lines of, “That isn’t happening  😖,” and then laughing out loud while saying how the Silksong subreddit is (probably) going apeshit right now.

They announced F-Zero GX with the GameCube games? Hallelujah, I didn’t think Nintendo remembered that franchise even exists, and to this day I consider GX to be quite possibly the finest arcade racer ever made. 25-year-old me did basically everything in that game. All story mode missions on very hard, all cups on master class, unlocked every racer, custom part, track, and all the AX conent, basically everything but beating every cup with every racer. Wonder if 43-year-old me still has it.

It's a bit annoying that the somewhat pricey upgrade to a Switch 2 will be a downgrade in one facet for those with OLED models. I still have my orginal LCD Switch, so it's an upgrade across the board and I'm in for pre-ordering all the things, but I still would have preferred OLED for the price (or an even higher-priced option with OLED).

Then they would not have anything to re-sell you in 2-3 years...

https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/how-to-buy/

Open to Nintendo Account holders in the U.S. and Canada, who are at least 18 years old. If you are eligible, an invitation email will be sent to the email address associated with your Nintendo Account when it is your time to purchase. The invitation will be valid for 72 hours. Invitation emails will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis to registrants who have purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership with a minimum of 12 months of paid membership and a minimum of 50 total gameplay hours, as of April 2, 2025. Once invitation emails have been sent to all registrants meeting the priority criteria, invitations will be sent to remaining eligible registrants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Looks nice a solid enough way to root out resellers.

So joycon necessary stuff works (ie Labo, Ring Fit, etc), but some software has issues. They have lists here in the linked PDFs:

The only thing I've seen is that you get the Zelda upgrades for free if you have the Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
Oh is that right? Didn't see it but nice if true. I'll be having it for F-Zero GX anyway and was waiting for new Switch to finish BotW so that'll be nice.

That’s a great way to eliminate scalpers. My big question is the 50 hours. I’ve put hundreds of hours into my Switch, but a lot less lately. However my kids have their own profiles and are on it all the time. So do the 50 hours need to be under my profile, and if so over what time frame? I’m expecting my profile, within the last year, which would be disappointing but understandable.

I have...over a hundred hours in at least two games off the top of my head. It's the NSO part I'm worried about cause I haven't had it in forever (but did buy annual at one point pretty sure). Hopefully they mean ever, vs recently active for a year.

Anyway besides the "Switch 2 Edition" stuff there'll be free updates to other games too (already hinted before I guess, but nice for confirmation):
