I don't want a camera in my living room but... https://www.theverge.com/news/642514/nintendo-switch-2-usb-c-camera-hori-piranha-plant-privacy Related to that apparently other cameras will work, curious if there'll be any actual quality/spec requirements or basically just any UVC camera (ie...

    Anyone remember Hotline?

Haha holy hell I can't believe it's still surviving. A bit late finding an iOS client there too but neat nonetheless. (Long time no see :p)

What we’re expecting from Nintendo’s Switch 2 announcement Wednesday

Not sure if it's been confirmed but the DK game looks/feels a lot like it might be by the 3D Mario team (...that coincidentally started out with DK Jungle Beat on GameCube way back). Guess now I'm pretty curious when the next Mario will be if that's the case, and by whom.

Pludgapalooza: MacOS 15.4, iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, etc, etc.

I don't think I updated yet but have seen that private browsing thing for a long time, like once it gets unloaded from memory it basically gets treated as a new private tab and loses whatever cookies/website data. So maybe more memory usage or just yeah, I guess different memory management...

For the mystery of how they'd price it in Japan (cause the current wacky currency difference), well 50,000 yen is about $333 US...but apparently they're basically region locking it. JP accounts only, and the system language is JP only. edit: looks like there's a non locked one for 70,000 yen...

    Nintendo Switch

Heard it's $80 for the MKW cart in the US, but has the 80/90 split in some other region(s?). Curious about details about the new cartridges, and if MKW will be all there or require a download. Cyberpunk will be on a 64GB cart...

    Nintendo Switch

I have...over a hundred hours in at least two games off the top of my head. It's the NSO part I'm worried about cause I haven't had it in forever (but did buy annual at one point pretty sure). Hopefully they mean ever, vs recently active for a year. Anyway besides the "Switch 2 Edition" stuff...

    Apple and Gaming

Meanwhile this just reminds me of some posts way back saying something to the extent of "Apple just needs a first party controller to show they're serious about gaming!" Good times, these Mac gaming discussions are. (and yes I am debating buying a new version of a 24 year old controller, mostly...

    Nintendo Switch

So joycon necessary stuff works (ie Labo, Ring Fit, etc), but some software has issues. They have lists here in the linked PDFs: https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/transfer-guide/compatible-games/ Oh is that right? Didn't see it but nice if true. I'll be having it for F-Zero...

What we’re expecting from Nintendo’s Switch 2 announcement Wednesday

Happy this turned out true. They didn't mention VRR in the Direct but it's on the website somewhere. Does the $499 Mario Kart bundle count for this too? Sooo some stuff is broken in some way, not many but there's two compatibility lists in the PDFs linked here...

    Nintendo Switch

Posted in the front page prediction thread, but that's about what I expected, $400-500 ballpark. With Switch OLED at $350 being the minimum, $100 above that seemed pretty realistic...particularly with the state of currency fluctuation and unpredictable US craziness, and other consoles getting...

What we’re expecting from Nintendo’s Switch 2 announcement Wednesday

Yep, which is why the Switch 2 name rumors seemed a bit questionable. Everything up till now has been some prefix or suffix unrelated to sequence a la Super Nintendo, Game Boy Advance, 3DS, or just a new name entirely like GameCube or Wii. Guessing some institutional paranoia after the Wii U...

What we’re expecting from Nintendo’s Switch 2 announcement Wednesday

One wild rumor that came up recently: 120Hz screen w/VRR. It sounds both crazy enough to be implausible, but also seems like that stuff has become common enough to maybe be plausible. VRR output for the dock would be particularly welcome as well. God knows Nintendo is like Apple and their iOS...

    Apple and Gaming

And fortunately you have the budget for both machines in the first place. If someone can only afford one or the other, or just wants one machine that can do everything they need, if games are important enough, the Mac may never even be a viable option in the first place. In your case they may...

    Nintendo Switch

One thing I miss from...I don't remember the last time I saw them, is just actual time counters. I assume they're still there in like time trials, but would like to see them while actually racing. I want to know how much I beat my friends by! ...or get destroyed by, in the case of when my...

    Travel eSIMs and iMessage/RCS

Dang ok well that's what I always figured but was hopeful. Calling isn't a huge concern but incoming SMS is still something like 5 cents on Verizon. Not too concerned there since most stuff should be iMessage/RCS but would be nice to not worry about it. I guess the alternative would be a mobile...

Pludgapalooza: MacOS 15.4, iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, etc, etc.

Did these just come out today? Asking cause I had two friends recently update their iPhones, then coincidentally both got messages from guys they had blocked.

HomeKit Trove & Repository: The second Definitive Apple Home Automation Resource

Ahhhh thanks. I'll have to look around a bit to see what I can actually do with it, and if I can remember anything I've had trouble with with the basic automations.

    Travel eSIMs and iMessage/RCS

Ah wifi calling was another aspect I was wondering about, do calls fallback to the data/travel SIM? I was never sure if actually needed wifi specifically or just any data connection. I guess SMS technically works over wifi calling too, I tested it out a while back for another trip, so hopefully...

    Travel eSIMs and iMessage/RCS

There's this Apple doc on dual SIM use, but just want to make sure on certain details: https://support.apple.com/en-us/109317 I'm going on a little trip and figuring I'd save some money with a cheap data only eSIM. But want to still keep my phone number active for emergency calls or texts...
