Enjoy the alternatives.I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm actively working to pull myself OUT of the Apple ecosystem due to all the AI stuff being shunted into it. And yes I'm aware I can opt out of this stuff, but the fact alone that Apple has started moving from opt-in to opt-out for their AI rollout gives me incentive to stop using their stuff as much as possible.
I'll never get fully away from the iPhone, not until/unless there's a competitor that isn't Android, but I've moved to other services to replace the Apple services I was using, sold my iPad, and will be selling my Mac Mini soon.
I've used Linux as my primary desktop OS for decades but bought a mac mini a couple of years ago to make it easier to work with my iPhone and iPad... back to nix I go.
No this isn't an android updateyay, more data harvesting and spying malware for everyone
Just went and re-read, I was conflating their web crawling (which is the exact same process used by other AI firms, and was done without permission in the same way) with using specific user-data in private cloud.
In my experience it hasn't. I wasn't watching version numbers, but I can tell you that the OS setup has made me decline it on at least two separate occasions, with all of the suggested/highlighted options being On/Enable/etc.I know it's only a little thing, but will this update honor my prior opt out of Apple Intelligence?
Robert Earl Keen summed it up years ago: "It's the little things, that piss me off".
My tipping point will be when they move from announced opt-out to unannounced opt-out.In my experience it hasn't. I wasn't watching version numbers, but I can tell you that the OS setup has made me decline it on at least two separate occasions, with all of the suggested/highlighted options being On/Enable/etc.
This is making Intel Macs look intelligent. The Mail features are part of Apple Intelligence and so won't be supported on Intel Macs...
Did you report this via feedback assistant?the error which, when I press "details" on the configuration of my wi-fi (in system properties) is still not solved .
It seems so, at least it did on my Mac.I know it's only a little thing, but will this update honor my prior opt out of Apple Intelligence?
iPhoneOS 17.7.6 was released TODAY. Here is the link.I refuse to update to iOS 18.x and all the AI crapola. However, I wish Apple would push out a 17.7.3 update with security fixes pushed out in the 18 updates.
Not, as the error message says "this report will be automaticaly sent to apple". Maybe I will at some point.... or maybe not...Did you report this via feedback assistant?
Maybe we can get dolphins without extra fins and eyes and anacondas without legs. Can't wait to get the image playground!

You don’t like biblically accurate AI slop?Maybe we can get dolphins without extra fins and eyes and anacondas without legs.
I’d actually like an actually useful assistant, which wouldn’t need any info not already on or accessible by the phone. (I’m willing to use constrained requests - I don’t need full pseudo natural language, and have no interest in chatting with my phone.) But the capabilities I’d want would require semantic processing capabilities that probably doesn’t exist, and query/command interfaces to lots of apps that definitely don’t exist. So, not what they are providing.Dear Tim, I DO NOT want my devices to FAUX THINK or MAKE DECISIONS for me.
Kindly stop before I give up on your beloved ecosystem.
I'm not sure what an MBA brings to the party besides a bunch of corporate buzzwords.A pity. I'd hoped to be able to hold my iMac near a new MBA in this fashion.
You don't even need new emojis anymore. You can use an image generator to make the picture of the emoji you want and save it to photos. Press and hold your finger on the image and it will isolate the part of the image you selected. When you release, one of the options is 'add sticker'. Once added, you can use these stickers just like an emoji. Just select the sticker option instead of the emoji. The best things about the iOS update are the security updates and bug fixes and maybe some new emoji
I was just thinking the same thing. Anyone still use those? App ecosystem doing anything?I keep forgetting the Vision Pro is a thing until I see a headline that references it
A double mocha, or he's not getting a tip.I'm not sure what an MBA brings to the party besides a bunch of corporate buzzwords.
Hey-- I'm all for the annoyed-at-Apple sentiment (me too!), but here's a friendly word of advice: Go read one of the Ars columns on Windows 11 updates before committing solely to Windows. Seriously, nowadays it's a race to the bottom in computing and all things internet, but Apple is losing since their products are not getting shittier as quickly as the competition.but, when I leave Apple, i'll go windows.
