So, moron or actively concealing illegal acts by using non-official services to dodge electronic records management requirements? Yes?
They don't want to use MS Teams on the gov phones because of data retention.

We're not talking about low level military people who might not have been issued a secure gov device. In some cases those people might use signal on a personal phone to alert them to report to based or get to a secured line.

Lock him up.

Lock them all up and I'm pretty sure a few of them should stand in front of a firing squad.
It is insane that 'the greatest country in the world' let itself be dismantled so easily by clowns.

A bunch of traitors to what America is supposed to be and it doesn't stop in the red camp (they are just more stupid and obvious with it).

Same crime same treatment.
I'll tell you what, I would take this trade in a heartbeat.

Conservatives care way more about Hillary Clinton that I do, that's for sure. You can have her, let's make a deal. Sorry Hillary, take one for the team. I'm sure you'll both get cushy Club Fed arrangements.

He runs as veep and Vance resigns day one. It’s not unlikely or even implausible. I agree he says outrageous shit for attention but a lot of it he actually pulls off.
Some of this stuff just seems like he's relying on the media and Cunningham's law to come up with this stuff.

Trump: throws shit at the wall and says something like he gets to pick the winner of the MLB all-star game.

Media: repeats wild claim and says they asked the MLB commissioner if it's possible and he said "no".

The world's best baseball lawyer sees the news piece and says, "well akshually there IS a loophole based on the celestial alignment on Babe Ruth's birthday that might make it possible this year."

Next news cycle: could trump really pick the next all star winner? We'll tell you how some experts think it's possible.

Meanwhile podcasters and talking heads all debate pros and cons in both serious and joking manners that normalize the possibility.

I've used GMail from my phone for "hey boss, I'm at urgent care because <serious medical problem and/or forgetting I'm in my 40s while working out>, I'll be out today and I'll let you know by EOB if I'll be able to work tomorrow".

Considering that the entire world knew when George W. Bush had a colonoscopy, I doubt a junior clerk with an ear infection is hot intel. Knowing the exact TOT for a flight of Super Hornets 2 hours before a strike? I've heard that might be hot intel.

This is very unfair and all a fuss over nothing. If Vlad wants to know anything, he can go directly to his sock puppet. And if Shi wants to know something, he can bribe Vlad with couch change.
apparently Trump is very mad at Putin right now for not taking his facile efforts at a ceasefire seriously

That would be unconstitutional because per the 12th Amendment, "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

But I think I know how he could do it without it being flat-out unconstitutional. I'm not going to post the scheme, in case they haven't thought of it -- I don't want to give them any ideas!

This is the first story of the entire Trump 2.0 administration that's had staying power. The shock and awe flood the zone shit has kept everyone constantly dancing, but this one has stuck. It's the SNL opener, it's getting play night after night on the late shows, the responses from the people involved have been incredibly stupid and unhelpful to smother it, and now we're finding it has legs.
I'd be willing to bet that a big reason why it's got legs is that it's easy to understand. Everybody in the world texts, and I'm sure lots of them have been in group texts where somebody said something dumb in front of the wrong person (see, for ex: the SNL cold open). The Signal part of the story is probably lost on most people, but that apparently isn't enough to make it die.

I mean, I'm pretty sure under us code it was...they just chose to not pursue charges at the time.

I'm pretty sure that you're wrong. Moreover, my "pretty sure" is based upon actual information concerning the charges and determination not to charge. What's yours based upon?

As we describe in Chapter Six of the report, by the Spring of 2016, Comey and the Midyear team had determined that, absent an unexpected development, evidence to support a criminal prosecution of Clinton was lacking. Midyear team members told us that they based this assessment on a lack of evidence showing intent to place classified information on the server, or knowledge that the information was classified. We describe the factors that the Department took into account in its decision to decline prosecution in Chapter Seven of our report and below.

"We can't prove the intent element required by the U.S. code" (paraphrasing) means that under the U.S. code it was not. Presumption of innocence and all that Constitutional nonsense, doncha know...

But hey, maybe Hegseth and Waltz were drunk-Signalling their war plans with their buddies and didn't intend to discuss platforms, times, and locations of the strikes. snicker

The only argument I can see is they're making Trump look bad (to even people who don't hate him already), and he doesn't like that.

I think at some point someone probably will be shoved onto their sword to try and make it go away.
At which point I can't help thinking of the opening scene in "Serenity"

They know. It’s all over the news. Politico’s legal editor did an article months ago. Lawyers have been talking about how for months. You’re not going to tip the needle.

They’ll shuffle people around if they have to or he’ll just run again and dare the Supreme Court to invalidate the results. They didn’t care about the 14th amendment. What makes you think they would care about any other, or that Trump would care about any law at all?

most ridiculous thing I’ve read all day

https://www.axios.com/2025/04/02/trump-tariffs-april-2-liberation-day

‘ The reciprocal tariffs have been tailored based on how unfairly the administration says the countries treat U.S. exporters.

  • The rates, calculated by Trump's top economists at the Council of Economic Advisors, are meant to hit back at the tariff and non-tariff trade barriers.’

He can't be President again. That's just not possible, unless the entire Constitution gets thrown out.
I am just going to keep posting articles like this:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/01/31/trump-defy-constitution-third-term-00200239

Because people at still in “he can’t do that” mode. Fucking watch him. Watch it happen, mouth agape. Maybe wave some little signs. Run your yap for 24 hours. Nothing will change. No legal action stops those above the law. They have broken the system.

It’s already normalized. Establishment republicans are normalizing it. Traitors the lot of them. In four years he will get what he wants if he still is wasting oxygen.

We'll see if these reports turn out to be damaging. Because with the right wing, what befits the gander does certainly not befit the goose, so in their mind they, the ganders, are free to do whatever they excoriate their opponents about. Because it's just not the same, you see? And by the way, tariffs are tax cuts.

ahhh but there’s no reason to bribe a Judge
when their wives are true believers
Not true, they don't sell their souls that cheap. They really do demand $100,000 in luxury vacations and $250,000 fuck-you-Winnebagos. Those are the last hurdles to completely gutting what is left of democracy, and all it takes is one billionaire to spend what they made in interest in the time it took me to write this comment. I feel so safe.
