Switch 2 games so far: The big, the indie, the unexpected Bloodborne successor

Another delayed indie gem, Deltarune, a kinda-sequel to Undertale, purports to land all four chapters of its parallel story on Switch 2 at the console's launch.
Note on this one: Deltarune will actually have more than four chapters (the assumption is seven, though I don't think that's been explicitly confirmed), but this release marks the first time that the game is actually going to cost money. The first two chapters have been available for free, while the next two are releasing at $24.99 for the set of 1-4. Future chapters will arrive as free updates to the paid package later on.

Gotta admit, I'll probably never play that wheelchair Skateboard Basketball game but that's a really cool idea. It'll be the ARMS of this generation I'm guessing (both a compliment of originality and an admission that it'll probably be ignored even though it's really unique).

I'm not super keen on Mario Kart x Forza Horizon but it looks to incorporate a lot of things Nintendo has been toying with with MK8D: weather/time of day from that RC game, costumes, real life inspriation courses, and multiple routes from the mobile game, etc. $80 is a hard pill to swallow but I'm sure I'll get it eventually.

Also I hope I'm not the only one who thought the new DK game was going to be a Banjo Kazooie game because of the googly eyes.

I was absolutely not expecting to want a Switch 2, as my first-gen OLED model already mostly gathers dust. But Drag x Drive of all games is genuinely making me reconsider. The control scheme looks incredibly immersive if it works, and its the sort of representation that can make a difference

One of my parents is a former paralympic athlete, so growing up I was surrounded by incredible adults involved in various para sports. It meant I was very aware of how little representation these sports havw in video games and pop culture. As a family we would go watch a wheelchair rugby game,or vision-impaired winter sports, and we were disappointed they weren't included in Wii Sports or the Mario Olympic Games. I would have absolutely played this game if it had existedback then.

On a side note, if you havent already watched a wheelchair basketball or rugby game in real life I highly recommend it. They're both much more physical than you'd expect, and the skills are incredible

I am pretty over the BOTW art style, but that new Hyrule Warriors game kind of fascinates me. I'm sure they will shoehorn him in somehow, but given the trailer didn't even seem to hint at Link's involvement in any way, that may well be a first for the series.

I could absolutely play Bravely Default again in HD. And as a Final Fantasy collector, I'll be getting the Remake cart. Hades 2 is day one.

Donkey Kong and Don't-Call-It-Bloodborne don't interest me at all personally, but it's cool to see the wide ranging genres and styles.

Not nearly enough farming sims. /s

Ultimately though, I expect to be playing more Mario Kart on this system alone than I will all games on my PS5 and PC combined this year.

I was quite surprised not to see Baldur's Gate 3 in the Direct. It's already quite well-ported, even with a MacOS version (and it works very well on Linux/Steam Deck), and it lends itself quite well to portable play.

I'm looking forward to Mario Kart and Donkey Kong (and Metroid 4) but I do wonder when a new 3D Mario or a new Zelda will be coming to Switch 2. I mean, it's a day 1 purchase for me anyways (if I can find one) but I'll certainly be waiting impatiently for one of those.

I'm also quite surprised not to see a new mainline 3D mario game. Mario Odyssey came out not long after the Switch 1 release, it feels like the timing is right for another entry.

Unfortunately I think it will be quite a while before a new mainline 3D Zelda game. Tears of the Kingdom was not that long ago.

I for one am very excited for Metroid Prime 4 and the new From Soft release.

We have made contact

(this gesture itself is a microcosm of why I love Bloodborne. It's simply named "Make Contact" with no explanation. Outside of the game,it has been suggested that if you ever meet an extra-terrestrial being, the first thing you should do is draw a right-angled (or Pythagorean) triangle, to demonstrate that you and the human race understand mathematics. In the absence of a common language, it's the best way of signalling that you possess intelligence, and convince the ETs that you are trying to communicate with them.)

Looks like they cancelled Diddy from Donkey Kong, and now DK is... strip mining an island? Wasn't that what the kongs were protecting their island against - the kremlins exploiting their land?
Look, the current economic challengers are hitting everyone, even the Kongs. Difficult choices had to be made. Jobs for Kongs won out over protecting the environment when push came to shove.

There may be a new Mario game staged for the holidays, but given how Nintendo really wanted to sell the narrative of how third parties are wholly on board for Switch 2, I suspect anything about a proper Mario game would have overshadowed everything else. That's probably why the new Metroid was also just a blip on the screen this Direct.

Judging by the headline art, they've really shaken up the aesthetic for the remake of Majora's Mask.

Finally the "dark Zelda" generations of edgy teenagers have been asking for!

Now that I think about it, the sense of humor in the Dark Souls games isn't so far removed from Majora's Mask's goofiness.

Some are saying this might actually be the original Donkey Kong, now known as Cranky Kong, due to the different look.

A new F-Zero release is my personal Half Life 3. A man can dream...
And they tease you with Captain Falcon being in every Smash Bros title. Like, quit dilettanting around Saffron City, Captain; we need you on the track!

(In other words, yes. Also Starfox. Also Extreme G.)

All signs point to Bananza being developed by the same team as Odyssey, so there's your new Mario for ya.

They might announce something for the holiday season, but my guess is they will wait until 2026 to give Donkey Kong enough room to sell.
