RCS messaging is 'the new SMS'

My wife runs a Pixel and I'm on an iphone. I don't understand the issue but I don't social media so I'm probably in the dark. All our messages seem to work fine afaict. I can't see when she types but I find that type of thing gross as hell.

Have her send you a full-res photo or short video clip to see the file size limits in action.

Patiently awaiting the full-emoji picker like Teams has so I can agonize over the perfect reaction to a given message.

One of the "selling" points for iMessage that I would discuss with people (in another career when I sold cellphones) is that it went across the wifi connection, not the cell one, so it would work in places where you have poor cell coverage but fine wifi. Between that and the "Delivered" you aren't wondering if your SMS was actually delivered, or waiting a while to get an un-sent notification.

the wife's iPhone decided today it doesn't want to send or receive any SMS. Or maybe it's RCS. Still works with MMS, it appears.

anybody know how to fix that?

Seems like it would be more carrier side. Might start there .
