FBI probes arson of Tesla cars and facilities, says “this is domestic terrorism”

No, what the MAGA and DOGE idiots are doing is terrorism… what the Tesla protestors are doing is... protesting.

Do I think it's what they should be doing? No. But I get it.

HUGE, nonviolent protests are what we should be aiming for. Also when Tesla property gets damaged or destroyed they're being paid by insurance companies and almost certainly profiting on it.

I really don’t like “violent” being applied to property damage (let alone the idea that damage at Tesla locations is “terrorism”). Setting a car on fire while people are in it? Yeah, sure, I’d call that violent. Setting an empty car on fire? Ehhhhhh. I’d prefer to use “violent” as attacks and damage against people (or living things, really). Stuff isn’t people!

I really do not accept the idea that setting fire to unsold cars in a parking lot is the same crime as blowing up a federal building filled with civilians (and children!).

"The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended," Bondi said.
Like fuck they are. These clowns are sharing classified information on unapproved platforms, one of them sending messages while IN RUSSIA, violating who knows how many laws. What they mean to say here is that the days of committing the crimes WE don't like without consequence are over. Rules for thee and not for me. The only good fascist is a dead one.

Behold what 30 years of non-violence has gotten us in relation to the system!

Oh.

At the end of the day a "crack down" isn't going to make any difference at all. Unless they begin to force people to purchase Teslas, Teslas's sales are going to continue to plummet. The incurred cost of any arson or vandalism is going to be in the noise. Not that the MAGA morons won't put the blame for Tesla's fall on Musk nazism chasing customers away at mach speed but rather on the "terrorism".

That's precisely what I expect to happen but not in the way you think.

I'm going to be surprised if they do NOT start replacing all normal (street vehicle) federal pool vehicles with Teslas, probably a special "government edition" that is sold at a higher price with higher margins without any changes to justify that cost.

I know some people have speculated Musk might be behind it to get insurance money, which raises a good point, even if it IS people who are "against" Musk doing this, he will still be getting insurance money. I think these arsonists are only helping Musk - he gets insurance money on cars he wasn't selling, while he also gets at least some people rallying around him and decrying the "terrorists" who are committing arson.

If any of those fires spreads and starts damaging other property and possibly harming people, the backlash against all Tesla protests could get really ugly really fast, and support for Musk would likely go up.

I really wish the arsonists would knock it off - there's far better ways to protest that don't result in giving Musk multiple benefits.

The best way to hurt Musk is to just make sure those cars sit on lots, unsold, with no insurance bailouts.

But, I also must recognize that yes, there is a possibility Musk is behind it, and if he is, he likely will never face consequences, because of being granted almost total power by Trump.

You may notice that the FBI has not formed a task force to investigate threats of violence against federal judges by the administration.

"The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended," Bondi said.

That's obviously a fucking lie. Not only is criminal activity increasing within the administration, they are indeed proud of disregarding valid court orders and and various other crimes.

I’m just assuming they’re going to get a government grant to make internal combustion versions of their vehicles.

this, also part of why i want to see some emergency egress testing added to the safety testing the insurance companies use, beyond being useful, we already know CT is almost certain to fail it.

And the SEC has a slam dunk of a case against a certain Twitter stock purchaser just sitting gathering dust on a desk somewhere...

Why, did Michael Waltz inadvertently add someone he shouldn't have here as well?
It's odd that we're picking on Waltz, one of the lesser-known people on the chat. Are we just giving a pass to everyone else that was cool with using Signal to discuss an ongoing military operation?

Any new models from Tesla may become the symbol, in some circles, that you are a true believer.

Ah yes. An armed invasion of the US Capitol, including mass assault on Capitol Police, in an attempt to overthrow US democracy? Pardons all around! These people are Patriots, don’t you know?

Some people set fire to cars to protest the fascist regime that literally ordered the aforementioned insurrection? Well holy shit domestic terrorism!!!

The state of American society is literally insane.

Oh, Trump must have surrendered to the authorities for all his crimes! Fantastic.

Such political B.S. Well as much as I love the idea of Elon's tears I do hate it when the protesting starts including destructive outbursts. Whatever effect you think it will have to your cause, it will unfortunately give the opposing side an order of magnitude more ammo to step up their Martial law efforts. Like others have said here, please keep the protests peaceful and non-destructive.
