So I had some Amazon credit from Xmas and found a refurbed LTE Pixel Watch 2 for 100$.

Bought it and the basic features seem to work with a few issues, and cosmetically it looks fine to me (I don't like the band but that is replaceable).

Now on the issues. I attempted to set up tap to pay with google wallet and I got the message that the watch doesn't meet the security standards cause it is either rooted or running unsecure software. Additionally (could be the same root issue) I can't set up the watch to auto-unlock my phone.

According to amazon (cause I checked) I have till May to return the watch so I could attempt to "unroot" and restore factory firmware on the watch and see if that fixes the issues that I'm having or I could just return it and cut my losses.

Has anyone had to deal with issues like this or rooted / unrooted a pixel watch before? I have rooted older android phones (I think it was around version Android 8) but haven't done anything in that regard recently so I'd have to read up on it (a very very quick google search seems like I should be able to do a simple command to relock the bootloader)

Never heard of that kind of thing before but have you already tried a full factory reset?
I opted to just go with a replacement (which should be arriving today) if that one has issues I'll probably try to do a full factory reset and if it still has these issues I'll just cut my loses and do a refund.
