This tech scares me a lot more than AI does. It’s obvious that this technology is going to be used as amoral bodyguards / military. The one thing dictators have to do is at least keep their cronies happy enough to not slit their throats. Now, they won’t even have to worry about that.

Yeah, now they need to keep their mechanics and IT people happy!

I expect security first with having these do perimeter patrols with sensors and alerts if they go down which would be really useful.

It's a tedious job/duty and humans are easily bored and miss things after a few hours so robots would be perfect.

They are owned by Hyundai. The first announced applications for this are intended to be manufacturing line work. These things will be assembling and repairing each other. AI will presumably handle the IT part. Hyundai is a fairly vertically integrated conglomerate. Soon enough IT could be robots and AI all the way down the supply chain. The future sucks

It is probably lower energy just to have a rolling security robot.

Then again the Knight bot is funny to prevent it from being knocked down, while Boston Dynamics bots can take a shove.

Maybe the best solution is to let the Boston Dynamics bot to drive a car. But it would have to be a YouTube worthy cool car.

The act of getting up and turning was interesting, but the actual walk cycle looked extremely jittery.
It appears to either have more joints or it makes use of those joints to be more flexible and natural looking in its movements. Look at it, it's a Slim Jim in comparison to the older design.

Eventually yeah. Though the biggest hurdle by far is the battery up time. A giant robot army does you no good if they burn through their batteries and die after only a couple of hours.

I frankly wouldn't really expect to see something like this for another hundred years and they will be deployed by the corpo-states not the local dictators they currently back. Robots will literally steal the local warlords job.

In the mean time what will get is just walking alarm systems.
