Elon Musk to “fix” Community Notes after they contradict Trump

Apparently the grok system prompt too has a demand that it can’t consider trump or musk as sources of misinformation You’d think this would give him some self awareness

Sweet spot or max out RAM on new Macbook Pro m4?

The 128G models are prized by the ai community because you can run and train some of the best ai models on them. I always like the max models too because the gpu performance is better if you ever do any gaming or 3D work or gpu compute.

Meta defends its vast book torrenting: We’re just a leech, no proof of seeding

That wouldn’t have worked. They would have had to buy the rights to incorporate it into a commercial product— likely costing billions. This is a fair price thats worth the cost, it would have ultimately helped the AI industry IMO. But here we are…

Parallels Desktop gains “really slow” support for x86 OSes on Apple Silicon

Yeah I use windows for arm with the windows built in translation for x86 apps, and it works great. Have been running 20 year old windows apps with no obvious speed loss this way I’m sure some people have good reasons to want full x64 but I bet 95% of people can use the windows on arm hypervisor...

$800 kids robot due for bricking sees “potential” open source second life

Right to repair laws should require companies to either OSS the firmware or to do what moxie is doing and make a locally available version.

    Weird iMessage behavior

I've seen weirdness too. I'm guessing apple is trying to figure out how to migrate chats when they switch over to RCS for non imessage group threads. There would need to be something going on in the background.... hopefully they figure it out though

    2024 Apple Devices

The minimum size of a a decent llm is about 10GB so it makes sense apple is bumping the ram. Should be doing the same on idevices too. AI is the future of computing

Procreate defies AI trend, pledges “no generative AI” in its illustration app

Yep. Ai is just a tool that both novices and experts use. Procreate is going to die from this choice, or change their mind. Here’s a good example of how it enhances productivity https://www.reddit.com/r/comfyui/s/jlnMnZ2c0U

    Apple Vision Pro

I use mine daily, and if the current gen had perfect eye tracking, i'd actually tell people to buy one. When it works, it's the best way to browse the web, watch movies, play ipad games (civ vi is amazing on it). But when it's off even a little, it's immensely frustrating. There's no way an...

    Apple Vision Pro

i'm curious what apple will compromise on to make it cheaper bumping to an m4 is an easy win, maybe not using aluminum, ditch the front screen or use a cheaper one (since persona enrollment seems to use it to let you know when youre doing it right). But this doesn't seem like 2000$ in savings...

Sophisticated $25M ethereum heist took about 12 seconds, DOJ says

That’s kind of how I feel, but when they then cash out the money to real money it has real impacts on everyone else. but then if crypto has Swiss cheese unregulated security, why should the government commit to defending this? Next step is regulation but then that fully legitimizes it and is...

Ford BlueCruise driver assist under federal scrutiny following 2 deaths

This is pretty interesting, will be more interesting to know the details. Radar would have detected this from a few hundred feet, so i'm surprised it didn't trigger an emergency braking. I'm assuming there was a discrepancy between the vision and radar systems, but i also wonder if the...
