It was a heroic outing from Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who picked up a sensational fifer, but one that ended in vain as India fell to England by 26 runs in the 3rd T20I in Rajkot on Tuesday.
Chakravarthy would put up sensational figures of 5/24 from 4 overs to help India restrict England to 171 runs in the first innings. But, it would only go in vain as the Indian batting order collapsed in the chase that ensued.

With the likes of the pacers Archer, Wood and Carse striking in their initial mini-spells, the pressure and the require run-rate skyrocketed, ultimately giving the visitors a dominant stand.
Hardik Pandya fought hard to keep India in the mix, but struggled to keep the scoreboard ticking at a consistent pace. With scintillating spells from Rashid and Overton choking out the batters and removing them at a timely manner, England managed to defend the total comfortably in the end and seal the 26-run win.
“It’s sad we didn’t make it this match, but that’s the nature of this game. We have to move on and get ready for the next match," a dejected Chakravarthy stated in the post-match interview.
Chakravarthy continued his sizzling form in the series, leaving the England batters puzzled at his delveries. In fact, with his fifer, Varun became the first bowler to take 10 wickets in a bilateral T20I series between India and England.

“When you are playing for the country, you have to take responsibility. I am able to do that to an extent. I don’t complain (about one-over spells), because there have been times when I have bowled four overs on the trot. I am ready for everything," Varun stated humbly.
In a manner of adding insult to injury, England went on to almost bowl the Indians out in the final over with Carse, Overton and Archer all ended their nights with two wickets each, as England snatched the win against the hosts to stay alive in the five-match series.
India still leads the series 2-1, with the fourth T20I set to be played in Pune on Friday.
