My Friend's Art Project

My Friend's Art Project

And how my Mom helped him with it

Chapter 1 by DevilChicken DevilChicken

— ... And that's why now I can't complete this damned art project!

Mark, one of your best friends, was visibly frustrated. He just told you that the girl he asked to pose for a photoshoot for his art project just rejected his proposition, telling him she wouldn’t come.

— ... And I already paid the guy for the studio and everything! 400 bucks for nothing!

You felt sorry for him. He had this artistic vein that you were a little bit envious of. He not only had the ideas, but also had the motivation to begin and end the projects, as well as the courage to publish them in his website and social media, opening himself to criticism, trolling, plagiarism and whatnot. "I only do it for art's sake. I don't care about anything else". That was his motto, and he lived for it.

— Hey guys, I brought you something to snack on... — Said your Mom coming in. She was carrying sugary drinks, chips, cookies and other stuff— Mark, I know you like these... Oh, hey, Mark, what's up?

Mark had his head between his hands, as if it was too heavy to be held it simply by his neck. His body posture showed the distress and defeat storming through his head. He wanted to answer, but could only shook his head.

Seeing he wasn't able to explain your Mom the reason of his demise, you told her what happened…

— Oh my, that's so mean! — She exclamed, outraged, after which she seemed to start thinking. — You can’t trust people these days!

A somewhat ceremonial silence ensued, as if the whole room felt sorry for Mark’s project inevitable failure.

— And what if I... If I take the role of this girl?

You both looked at her, bewildered. For your part, you knew your Mom liked artsy things, but a photoshoot? At her age? As for Mark it meant salvation, a way to finish the project without losing 400 bucks.

Mark jumped out of his chair and excitedly started explaining to your Mom when and where she had to show up. You intervened, knowing exactly how to interrupt Mark when he got lost within his manic-creative spree.

What do you do?
