Not cheap, yes, but $1,500 also includes 20 more GPU cores.

Report: iPhone SE could shed its 10-year-old design “as early as next week”

That plus hdmi 2.1 48Gbps to enable 4:4:4 chroma at 4K hdr. Current gen goes up to 4:2:2 and my OCD likes app icons to be nice and crisp.

    AMD’s 2025 Ryzen laptop lineup: A mix of powerful/new and renamed/old

Years from now, this period will stick out as the Pro Max+ Ultra AI epoch of tech marketing departments.

Adobe shows off 3D rotation tool for flat drawings

This is the first thing that popped in my head. I like to do motion graphics as a hobby but am useless in 3d modeling. If these models can be exported I can have fun including them in my projects when I can’t find what I want on Sketchfab and such.

8 dead, 2,700 injured after simultaneous pager explosions in Lebanon

I’m not sure that’s the same as remote detonations effecting thousands of devices at once.

New research shows gas stove emissions contribute to 19,000 deaths annually

What about gas powered fireplaces? I haven’t seen it mentioned here but wouldn’t they have the same issues? Edit: or do the vast majority of particles just go up the chimney?

Daily Telescope: A brilliant cluster of stars in a nearby galaxy

With the Milky Way being 100,000 light years across, doesn’t the Large Magellanic Cloud at ‘only’ 158,000 ly away seem pretty darn close, cosmically speaking? Throw a fishing rod from our end and we’re practically there.

    Daily Telescope: A super-hot jet 1,000 light-years from Earth

Just wanted to say what many others have said before…this series is totally ace. My first thought after reading so much grim news elsewhere is yes, get me out of here!

Porsche summons old-school cool with the 2024 911 Sport Classic

Same here. While 7 gears might just be inside the line of reasonableness, I’m glad manuals continue to be an option these days.

OpenAI execs warn of “risk of extinction” from artificial intelligence in new open letter

So far I’m seeing critics of these open letters saying they're a way to: 1. ease AI developers’ conscience 2. PR 3. make new entrants harder via regulation 4. that we should focus on today’s AI misuses (since we’re a long way from actual societal-threat AI). I see validity criticizing the...

Twitter shuts offices for day as it cuts 50% of workforce; staff already suing

Given Musk’s increasingly erratic and destructive behavior, I’m curious to see how many people will do the same. I also wonder if Tesla’s competitors now see Musk as a gift. Hoping those laid off find something better soon.

New Jersey politicians want to ban subscriptions for car hardware

I would suggest building a small cost to “ongoing expenses” as it could be seen as a loophole by manufacturers (as others here pointed out…servers costs and what not). Say 0.1/0.2% of the initial purchase value.
