How to watch plant cells build a cell wall without killing them

It is just the center of the short cellulose fiber highlighted, and traced to show its random movement.

Rebellion brews underground in Silo S2 trailer

I read the first set of books, and enjoyed them immensely. Fortunately I completely forgot the plot, so I've been having great time with the show. Highly recommended.

A cosmologist’s guide to the greatest astronomical discoveries of all time

Very enjoyable article. I'd like to request a follow up with the next five (so far) top discoveries in astronomy, and a similar article in other fields!

E3 memory lane: Ars’ favorite moments from the show’s over-the-top past

A great collection of images, that really portray gaming gistory. Thanks for putting the article together!

Apple reportedly prepping a pair of high-end Mac desktops ahead of WWDC

I would imagine PCIe slots, and external (From the SOC) RAM. I could imagine them creating a seperate Mac Pro specific SOC for the latter, with extra oomph also, just to distance them from Intels chips.

GeForce Now Ultimate first impressions: Streaming has come a real long way

I am now 2/3 through the Witcher 2, using the free tier on Geforce Now, and have been very impressed. There is a hickup here and there, but otherwise it has been as if I played it on my own machine - Just visually better, as this was on a 2011 iMac on Wifi, connected to a 4G router. Very...

How to download a backup copy of your Twitter data (or deactivate your account)

So sad this is happening. But if Trump comes back, I am deleting my account. It was quite useful for my work as a molecular biologist, as a lot of people in my field used it for sharing papers/jobs/conferences/cool stuff, but I prefer sanity and ethics over more work. I do hope someone comes up...

All the tidbits we’ve gleaned about the Mac Studio, Studio Display, and M1 Ultra

None of the M1 Macs support eGPUs unfortunately.

The best Mario games ever made

Super Mario World 2, Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 64 share the first place for me. The latter for sheer nostalgia and memories (And great sounds!), the two former simply because of the level of quality throughout the games.

“Song of the Sea” distorts popular sea shanty with extreme storm data

My headset is likely not good enough to hear the delicacies of the storm, so to me it just comes off as a regular rendition of the sea shanty, a good one, but also one with a lot of random noise added.

A curious observer’s guide to quantum mechanics, pt. 4: Looking at the stars

Every single one of these articles make me understand quantum mechanics just a little bit more (I think!), and then at the same time, make me question what I thought I learned from the previous articles. Quantum mechanics is hard, but these are some darn good articles. Keep them coming!

Apple announces new M1 Mac Mini, starting at $699

I have to wonder if the 16GB RAM limitation is artificial to get people to upgrade to Pro machines, when they come. If the ARM machines are as fast as Apple makes them out to be, a lot of people will be just fine with non-Pro machines, so Apple needs an incentive for a group of those to pay...

Beats Flex: $50 Bluetooth earphones with Apple’s W1 chip and USB-C

I run with the Beats X and like them very much. They stay in position, and they never drop out of my ears. In general I've been very happy with mine - They do have somewhat short battery life though. But looks like they improved it with these new ones.

One resolution to rule them all: Lord of the Rings trilogy coming to 4K Blu-ray

Any chance that they will upgrade some of the CGI? A lot of the scenes stand so much out, because the animal/creature CGI isn't convincing (And wasn't back when it was released). Surprisingly, since Gollum was very well done.

Masterpiece: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island

To me, SMW2 is the ultimate platformer to me. It was so much fun, but what really made it so amazing was the world building. Every world was oozing with charm and depth, which made it so amazing to play through.

Start the new year right with terrifying trailer for A Quiet Place Part II

It is definitely not that. I don't like jump scare movies, because jump scares are cheap tricks, and I most certainly enjoyed this one. One of the most thrilling horror movies in a while.
