Here's how things stand on my main box, and just for fun, what
things looked like the last time I posted a listing of my hardware, which was
actually back in 1999! How things have changed. Still using the same
NIC and monitor though...
IDE ZIP
IOMagic 24x IDE
CD-ROM (bleh)
1.44MB floppy (ooh, aah)
Eventually, I'll be adding other fun stuff, like specs for my other computers,
and maybe even a look at my home entertainment system, since I spend a lot of
time talking about that.
Lust list:
This is a list of a couple of the things that have currently got
me checking my credit card balances to see if I can afford 'em, and a little bit
about why I'm interested:
Playstation
2 and Network
Adapter - I've never been a console gamer, but I will admit that a game
console is a great thing to have around when you have friends visiting. A
good multiplayer game can keep a whole room entertained. But more
importantly, I like what I've seen of the QCast
tuner. Currently, the only way I have of watching downloaded videos on my
home theater system is to burn them to something, or transfer them to my laptop
and hook that up. Neither is an optimal solution. But to have a PS2
that functions as a stripped down Home Theater PC? Hmmmm...
Adaptec
DuoConnect and some form of front
panel access for it - Now that I have my lovely iPod and plenty of storage
space on my main box, I want to get serious about ripping my CDs and putting
'em on the iPod. My current strategy of using my laptop to talk to the
iPod isn't going to be able to handle a large amount of MP3s. So,
firewire for the main box is the answer.
